Finally, the Old Letters Jingle
Finally an answer to the old Letters Jingle riddle. Pete from Melbourne, Australia discovered DGW around Episode 120 and listened to archive episodes for 7 hours a day for several days in a row. He tells Dick and Leo that the old Letters Jingle was submitted by a Finn Heinrich Antonin, played from Episodes 151 to 160, and George Wood's debuted in Episode 166.

Marware iPod Shuffle Dock
USB Travel Dock for the 2nd-Gen Shuffle

A USB travel dock for the 2nd-Gen iPod Shuffle from Marware. The new Shuffle does not come with a USB plug any more and requires a dock and cable to connect to a computer. The Marware dock is like a USB thumb drive and is much handier than Apple's dock and cable method.
The Doom of Society
Despite his protestations, Dick loves the Toothpick Bird (Episode 282) because it's lowered the bar so much for him. Dick remarks that even the Spork (Episode 182) has generated tons of love mail. Years from now, later generations are going to find out the reason for the doom of our current society - all because we worship the Toothpick Bird as God.
File Numbering
Only This Week in Tech has a 4-digit file numbering, but of course, of all the podcasts Leo does, the only show that has the remotest chance of reaching a 4-digit number is the Daily Giz Wiz.
An Apple Cables Tip from Leo
The iPod video actually works with normal AV cables (3.5mm jack to 3-way RCA cables). Just switch them around. Plug the red RCA jack to the TV's yellow RCA port, the yellow RCA plug to the TV's white RCA port, and the white RCA plug to the TV's red RCA port. There is no need to buy the expensive ones from Apple.
Gadget Dreamhouse
Leo said he'd love to have a cellphone with 2-way video conferencing functionality (Episode 278). Tim from Australia says, "Come to Australia!", to use their 3G bandwidth there. Or come to most of Asia and Europe.

This was Dick's first quartz watch which he bought in the 1970's for $200 (after a discount of $50).
The first Seiko Chronograph was introduced in 1964 for the Tokyo Olympics. The first quartz watch (commercially available) in the world was the Seiko Quartz Astron 35SQ, introuduced on Christmas Day 1969, and cost $1,250. Dick was shown one of them by Bill Todman of Goodson-Todman Productions.
Prior to the quartz watch, the watch considered the most accurate was the "tuning fork" watch, the Bulova Accutron, first introduced in 1960 as the Accutron 214.

Letters Jingle Unspoiled
Louis from Melbourne, Australia loves the Letters Jingle and want an uninterrupted version without Dick and Leo's voice-over. Leo obliges and for good measure, throws in the closing D-A-I-L-Y jingle as well.

Leo was at the Apple Showtime Event on 12 September 2006. The iPod video gets a brighter screen and games. 2nd gen iPod nano, with colours like the old iPod mini. A new tiny iPod Shuffle. Movies downloads from the iTunes Music Store (now just called the iTunes Store). A new version of iTunes to play those movies and to give you gapless album play.
Streaming to your TV
And lastly, the iTV which will come out in 2007 (and renamed as the Apple TV).
